Dear Mom at Midlife,
Are you struggling to balance the challenges of working outside the home and being a mom, while wondering how on earth you can squeeze "you" in there somewhere?

You've come to the right place. Most working midlife moms struggle to find the time and energy to be the parent they want to be. At the same time, they have their own personal fullfullment needs to address, which become even more important after age 30 or 35. In addition, they sometimes must manage unique situations such as elder care and child care at the same time, and natural hormonal changes.

Their situation might cause them to feel constantly overwhelmed, tired, anxious or simply stressed out. Some feel as though they can never catch up, no matter what they do. They feel like what they do accomplish is never enough. Sometimes they feel wracked with guilt for not living up to their own expectations.

You deserve to feel supremely fulfilled and happy. If you’re happy, everyone around you, including your kids, your husband and your co-workers will blossom under the sunshine of your happiness. People who bring you down will melt away because you’re in a different place than they are. Situations that stress you out will disappear or else they won’t stress you out any longer. You’ll feel confident that the time and energy you put into something is exactly the right amount. You’ll have time for those special moments with your child, the priceless ones that will never come again. And you won’t feel guilty for doing something just for you.

You’re not there yet, because you've been focusing on everyone else. There hasn’t been anyone focused 100% on you. At work, there's a job to do and expectations to fulfull. At home, your family loves you, but they have their own needs and expectations. Because you’re a nurturing person, you’ve been taking care of everyone else’s needs before your own. You’ve been last on your list. It’s been hard to put yourself higher, because then you feel selfish. But here’s the secret: If you put yourself higher on the list, everyone else will benefit, especially you!

You need to see things from a different perspective. No one ever solved a problem from the same mindset that created it. You need to create a vision of the life you want, design a plan for achieving it, and take the concrete steps to get there.

I can help you do all these things. I’ll be your mirror for this new view of your life. I’ll help you design the life you want, create a strategy to achieve it, and motivate you every week to go out and take the steps you need to accomplish it.

I work with midlife moms who are trying to balance the demands of a job or career and the demands of a family at home, while taking care of themselves in the process. They are struggling to find balance in their lives and want to fulfill their own needs as well as those of their children and families. They might be entreprenuers who own their own businesses, or they might go to the office every day. With professional coaching and support, I help these women achieve and maintain the balance they want.

"When I began coaching with you, I was working full-time, traveling for my job, and raising three children aged nine, seven and three. I felt as though I should be able to do it all perfectly, but through coaching I discovered I was holding myself up to unrealistically high standards.  I engaged in constant negative “self-talk” because I wasn’t measuring up to those standards. After I began coaching with you, I finally recognized how damaging that negative self-talk was to me and the people around me, and I learned to relax. I let up on myself and stopped feeling as though I had to be “on” all the time. I honestly could never laugh at myself until I started coaching with you.

I stopped worrying about my own agenda and began to see things through my children’s eyes.  I realized that every moment in life is an opportunity to be with them. For example, instead of “hurry, hurry, we have to leave” in the mornings, I’m aware that that’s an hour I get to spend with my children, and I make certain I enjoy every moment.

I also got out of a job that did not fit with the lifestyle I wanted for myself and my family. You helped me see what I really needed in a job, which included more balance with my family, and now I can say I have my “dream job!”

I know you have many clients, but you’ve always made me feel as though I was your only client. You listen very intently to what I’m saying, and you’re always very concerned with how I’m doing.

I really feel that you know me and care about me and because of that, I have chosen to reach out to you for additional coaching at critical times in my life. Each time I have come away equipped with better "life tools" and very thankful for your help.
